Conservatives are aware of the left-wing biases of Big Tech and notice how the algorithm alters their level of exposure.
However, they aren't questioning the type of divisive racial content that the algorithm favors specifically for the right-wing.
People on the political right are keen on noticing far left-wing ideological identitarian rhetoric and speak up when they see left-wing tactics to divide people by weaponizing race. For example, when the progressive left says your outcome is connected to your racial identity.
When it is implied that if you're a straight white male, you're an oppressor, obviously many on the right who fit into this category (and many who don't) take offense to this narrative. The far-left is attempting to make racial identity the central importance of one's identity.
They want white people to see themselves as white in every aspect of American life, in the same way, they want black Americans to see every negative circumstance or interaction as a result of being black. The more they attack white people, the more defensive white people become.
The more defensive white people become, the more they become aware of and favor their "whiteness". However, it's not just the goal of the far-left to promote white identitarianism but also the far-right and the algorithm knows this.
Big Tech algorithms are highly sophisticated and have a primary objective to keep your attention but as we've seen with the release of Twitter files, they can be programmed to promote or demote anything they're commanded to.
We should now be asking why certain content exists on the right and not the left. Notice on the right there are rarely videos shared that show police officers in a negative light? On the left, they exist to validate their animosity toward law enforcement.
If you routinely saw videos of police officers behaving badly, you'd start to alter your view of them because of the constant consumption of negative media and you'd lose your perspective of the greater picture that the vast majority do not behave in this manner.
The same goes for negative depictions of black people who are violent. In the right-wing sphere, there are often videos of violent encounters of black people assaulting someone, especially when they are assaulting someone who is white, yet no one questions why they are promoted.
So I'm not misunderstood, these are legitimately horrible videos to watch & often no excuse for their violence, so this isn't an attempt to excuse the actions of people simply because they look like me. This is me questioning why certain content is elevated & others aren't.
I believe that the algorithm understands that the objectives of the far-right & far-left are essentially the same. If they can promote violent content of black people assaulting white people, this will slowly increase the number of them who are more aware of their "whiteness".
In the same way, I can show you videos of cops behaving badly on repeat to make you slowly despise cops, you can do that with black people. Ever ask yourself why you don't see more violent content of people of other demographics? Trust me, they exist.
It's daunting to consider this but the far-right wants to drag well-meaning conservatives into accepting racial identitarianism as their new normal and the algorithm supports their goal.
The far-right wants you to believe that an assault by a black person is only moments away from happening and they'll shove stats down your throat to prove it. They want you to believe that violence committed by us is as inherent as male pattern baldness.
They want you to notice the patterns of content shared and to ignore your positive personal experiences. They'll talk to you about FBI crime stats and disproportionate criminality (which are true) to give the impression that we are in majority prone to violence & criminality.
They'll disguise themselves as "truth-seekers" but when you ask them if they believe it's inherent to being black or other cultural influences, the duplicity of their rhetoric becomes very clear. The goal is to make more moderate people, more extreme & the algorithm supports them.
They want moderate white conservatives to feel like victims within a multicultural American society to gain their acceptance for more extreme viewpoints; victims are easier to manipulate.
They are right-wing race pimps and they're no different than the left-wing ones.
The algorithm supports a more racialized & less individualistic right-wing which coincidentally favors the "conservatives are racists" narrative when it's politically suitable.
The moderate right needs to understand the enemy also lives in their house and they're ready to pimp them out on the streets of extremism.
Leftist Big-Tech Algorithm Promotes Racial Animosity On The Right
The problem is using algorithms to distort reality. I don’t have any big tech social media (I had Facebook a number of years but deleted it a few years ago). For those of us who live in the real world, nuance still exist and the ability to put objective data into context while seeing beyond superficial demographics for causation of harm is the norm. I wish Musk well, but still believe algorithm-driven social media consumption is by its very nature toxic. Anyone spending excessive time watching violence and death is going to have a wounded heart.
The healthiest thing everyone can do is spend more time with actual humans in real life. By doing that it becomes natural to see that most police officers are good but some are terrible. Same for social workers and every other profession. Same for people with any degree of skin pigmentation. Most humans are kind and loving but some are terrible and violent.
Getting distracted by intersectionality theories not only distorts reality to destroy healthy interpersonal relationships and interactions, it also leaves the believers vulnerable to predation. If someone is looking at intersectional physical traits not very correlated to predatory behavior to assess threats, rather than chosen actions extremely correlated to predatory behavior, that person is extra vulnerable because they aren’t capable of real situational awareness.
Are there issues with a correlation to race? I would argue that there are, and violence in the black culture in the US is an example. The data is there. Now, it has nothing to do with melanin or genetics, and everything to do with culture, but there is a correlation. Adam is likely correct though, I bet the algorithms are making things worse by feeding each tribe what it wants. I’m not sure it is intended to push a specific agenda though, unless that agenda is maximizing profit. For example, Fox News and MSNBC may not actually be trying to push their apparent political biases, but they certainly are feeding their respective tribes exactly what they want to hear and see. Because they want their audiences glued to the channel. Presenting information that runs counter would be challenging and uncomfortable. That’s not what viewers want. They would switch the channel.
