Thanks for sharing. It’s not common for men to address such issues and action for their health. It’s inspiring and you are a leader in many ways!

My dad has reversed cancer by diet and exercise . The doctors seek his advice and ask him what he’s doing and how! :)

Also what a great self esteem builder to honor your health by eating healthy and nutritious food cooked with such ❀️ love. If a person does not have their health they have nothing. Fast food and junk food are like poison.

You guys are awesome. This was both heartening and inspiring to read! My husband got cancer in 2017 and within 15 minutes of diagnosis I became a dogged researcher and food planner and meal prepper. His cancer was an aggressive form. We researched treatment options, decided on a clinical trial that made sense, and he started eating well, probably for the first time in many years.

He is now cancer free in 2023. Feeling great. Down 30 pounds. He fasts quarterly for about five days each, does weekly IF protocol, and eats very clean with low carb (because I feed him πŸ˜†). We also sauna and do ice baths and some other things that are simple.

Since then I have become a certified nutrition coach because I love it so much. And he has done a deep dive into the science of metabolic function. He regularly listens to lectures and reads a LOT of studies and keeps up w the research.

He is a perfect life partner for me. It’s hard to describe all the ways that our marriage has been life changing for both of us. Good marriage is important to talk about!

Keep at it and keep us posted!

That's an amazing story. I'm so happy for his recovery and transformation. I've found out so many beneficial things about intermittent fasting and I'm going to make it part of my living routine. It's quite amazing what the body can fix. Congrats on the certification!

Man, that's inspiring. You're a good man to share this. Perhaps this s the 'nudge' some people need to get their life dialed in, like you have.

I’d say you have a keeper. I bet if you learned to cook together you’d enjoy it. Mutual support at its finest.

You are a very wise man, Adam, wise indeed, both in choosing a healthy lifestyle, but making the wisest choice of all, a good wife.

As a group, men have many admirable skills, but nurturing tends not to be their top one. (Just writing that makes me laugh because I know what men are like when they're not around women for some time...basically Army barracks! At best!)

Excellent! I had a heart attack a year ago and made good, smart decisions that minimized damage to my heart. In the time since, I've incorporated intermittent fasting, drastically changed my diet, take supplements, and am still a gym rat like I've always been. I had bloodwork done and found I had a high level of plastics in my body and set out to detox my gut. More recently, I ordered a polar plunge pod and each morning, I sit in 58 degree water for 4 minutes with a goal of sitting in 34 degree water for the same time. The benefits of cold immersion are numerous. At night, a hot shower before bed helps, too.

Good job! Your wife is right to worry and to check in on you. My girlfriend did the same, cooked meals, and got on my case about supplements. I used to hate taking pills but now I take several with some specifically for my heart (CoQ10/fish oil, L-Carninte, etc.).

Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

A beautiful example of the blessing of a good marriage. My wife and I tease each other often about who has save the life of the other most recently. And the more gray hair we get, I'm sure the 'lifesaving' will become more frequent. LOL

You have such uplifting stories! Brought tears to my eyes. Did you know that couples tend to mirror each other's weight? You are so wise to start young. Great for you both. Also, they are finding that metabolic syndrome (fat around the middle) multiplies the risk of many cancers.

I did something similar due to health concerns. Started by cutting out sugar and baked goods, then heavy carbs, then added intermittent fasting. After many decades of struggling to lose even 5 lbs, this was relatively easy and I went down several sizes. I was a skinny teen and young adult and am back to that weight. I continue with low carb IM and also exercises. Oddly, the food cravings go, so it's not hard to maintain.

May you both live long and healthy lives!
