Some kids saw through the lies and were angry that authority figures were keeping them from living normal lives. Some kids believed the lies and were terrified that they or their loved ones would die, or even that they themselves would be responsible for the death of someone else. And every effort at "mitigation" was a constant reminder that things weren't normal for both those groups of kids. Of course this caused poor mental health in children! How could it not?

Your words about forgiveness are wise beyond your years. Like your guest, I struggled with forgiveness for years until I heard someone explain it the way you have in this video. What helped me to experience the peace that comes with true forgiveness, is the understanding that forgiveness doesn’t necessarily mean the relationship goes back to the way it was prior to the issue. It has been so important for me to make note of what I learned about that person and reshape that relationship based on what I know about that person’s values, emotional maturity (and in the case of COVID, it was often the ability to think critically), etc. As I recall someone saying to me, just because you forgive someone doesn’t mean you have to give them a seat at your Thanksgiving table.

Thank you and yes, what you stated exactly what I mean. It's a gift you give yourself. Release that anger so you can possibly love again.

We cannot ever forget what was done to us during that time period. Americans, not all but as a group, are horrible at remembering the details of such things, but bravo to you for keeping that moment in time alive. No matter who is running the government in Washington and in the various state capitals, they should regularly be reminded that our government is of the people, by the people , and for the people. They have bosses and we can never let them do to us what they did in 2020 and 2021. I am looking forward to hearing Ms. Sullivan tell her story.
