Adam, I didn't even read the whole thing but I know you're right because of seven words. "You deserve nothing. Nothing. You earn everything." Brilliant and right and if this were taught to every kid at home and every kid in school the country and the world would be a better place.

I was taught this by my mother. Relentlessly. In word and deed. To paraphrase, what she said is was something like this, 'Work. Work hard. Smart is fine but hard work wins every time. If you're Blessed with smarts and you don't work you will be an intelligent and entitled jackass and derelict. If you have an average or slightly above average intellect and you outwork everyone you will bask in success." She often said "Hard work and education are how people like us get ahead." She was referring to poor, blue collar working class people. She was absolutely right and I'm living proof of that.

What you wrote should be spread by parents and teachers as relentlessly as my mother did with me. Bravo and a great post at the end of the year. Now only if people will start to listen to this message.

I'm not sure if it would be a good fit. I should have a piece coming out tonight about Satanism. Keep an eye out!

I often say to my spouse, with a wry chuckle, “Most people never get what they actually DESERVE.”

Very well written.

Remember, the universe is transactional. You have to exchange things of value to get things of value. And those transactions rely on marginal utility, ie they’ll only happen if there’s a net benefit all around.

Keep being beneficial

Very well said and very good timing. There is much said recently about the evils of 'meritocracy'. This is one I will share.

Merry Christmas!

Adam, I received yesterday in the mail a "Diversity Mug" with rainbow colors and the words "Diverse Perspectives are Key." Two points, this company's whole perspective is "success" is surrendering to DEI. Diversity equates "intolerance" in the name of tolerance. Second, this is their religion! Instead of a Christmas Card, they sent me a DEI Mug with the words "Diverse Perspective are Key" and not one word about Christmas, not even a Happy Holiday! And I realized....this is their religion and their replacement for Merry Christmas, and they don't even see it. I hope you can write more on the religious aspect of this. I also received an 8 page single space email from an old friend today, who instead of saying "Merry Christmas" wrote an entire essay towards me, that we "climate deniers" are responsible for the death of the world. This is their religion (diversity, climate change, etc.) and I hope you can address this more in the future! Merry Christmas!

Nice read. We are all in our private bubble. Challenges and accomplishments are part of living. Hand outs for some. Looking back brings it full circle.

May God bless you with the real gifts that keep giving. Quite a while ago I had people take away things that were precious to me. But I learned that God gave me inner things, to create, to live, to make an effort, and the blessings of someone who loved me. And other responded to my efforts to smile, to live, despite everything. Your message is the hidden truth of all of it.

👏👏👏👏👏 oh my goodness! You said it! I never could understand why everyone was always saying that, either. When I hear someone say that, my initial thought is "but, do you, though?" 😂😂

I have always this to be true, though I usually phrased it a little differently. It’s painful to think about, how certain people (family members) let me down when I was younger.
