One of the pleasures in dining out, in my experience, is interaction with great service people…discussing the food, choosing a wine/cocktail. Robot restaurant wouldn’t interest me.

90% of white collar work is about to be wiped out… followed by 50-75% of basic manual labor by 2034. There are a few ways to solidify your future earning potential so you don’t have to rely on what the government deems you “worthy” of as it relates to universal basic income. Hands, Brand, Land.

If people think they are going to be greeted by Rosie of “The Jetsons” when they dine out, they’re not living in reality. Another thing many folks forget is AI is an artificial replica of the humans who program it.

I've been following your work for some time. This was the most poignant of posts, which is saying a lot. That Elon's work with Doge may unleash an expansion of gov't is something no one has said. But it makes sense. AI will just clean up all our messes like a well-trained butler, until the butler decides the one he serves is irrelevant. When my son was a dedicated Neo-Marxist trained in high school (so I do differ with you that the failure to evidence communism's mass murdering machine isn't an issue), he also became fascinated by what is called continental philosophy. Existentialism (man's search for meaning) blossomed like a weed, sometimes pretty, sometimes thorny, and always invasive. Heidegger is part of this movement. In the beginning, it was confusing that a literal Nazi member is still so influential. But I now understand why. Heidegger warned that humans would become a resource to be harvested, and the existence of our footprints would be desired but not the feet that made them. I am reading an academic paper on Heidegger and technology written by a professor in Nigeria. Fortunately, for his country, he is using Heidegger as a tool to help navigate a future with technology without concern that it is tainted with 'white privilege.' (It is ironic that we use the slur of 'white privilege' based on the work of dead all white men.) For all of Heidegger's faults, he was trying to develop a framework for man to stay relevant, to stay master of the machine instead of its slave. C.S. Lewis did the same with his work, but I assume his Christianity was an issue. Perhaps, had he stayed an atheist, they would have listened, but then again, he probably wouldn't have understood the dangers.

No one discusses the Wall-E movie from 2008. Maybe because it is too haunting. Seeing fat slobs sucking down junk while gobbling up entertainment from a screen was haunting back then and nightmarish now. Watching Waymo ads featuring either young hipsters too preoccupied with fake fun or an elderly person, the message is clear. We can no longer be trusted with such a task.

Thank you and I'm glad you liked this article. I appreciate your comment too. Not too familiar with Heidegger, maybe I should look into him and C.S. a little more.

I haven't read him directly. I read his thoughts through the works of others as his language is difficult. Even the works of others using him is difficult for me. It took three years to grasp a paper on transhumanism written by a medical ethics professor using Heidegger. I started my journey into philosophy almost 8 years ago. My son was spouting NeoMarxist/CRT concepts. I had no idea what he was saying. I've been listening to various lectures on philosophy ever since. This playlist by Professor Kreeft is very helpful. The only philosopher he doesn't like is Rosseau as Rousseau abandoned his children to certain death because his work was too important to be bothered. Rosseau helped germinated the fantasy that a utopia could be built - thus collectivism.
