I had the pleasure of sitting down with Twitter/X influencer Ada Lluch in Miami, Florida to discuss the cultural and political differences between the United States and her homeland of Spain.Speaking Wrong At The Right Time is a reader-supported publication.
How interesting that Ada -- almost without thinking -- identified the Second Amendment as the primary distinction between America and Spain. My guess is that the Second Amendment is the envy of many freedom-loving people worldwide, and is likely far more appreciated by them -- as residents of nations where only the authorities have guns -- than by us as the truly exceptional creation it was and remains.
Dave Chappelle had it right when he said that the Second Amendment exists just in case the First Amendment doesn't work out...
Great conversation; it was so interesting hearing a perspective from someone not born and raised in the US. I also really appreciate how you respond when someone may have a different view from your own. I was beginning to think that meaningful dialog was a lost art. Many thanks for sharing.
