I think it is great that so many people are beginning to see that the Democrats have become an out of control monster.

Ok, I've been able to read a lot of your stuff lately Adam and this, like the rest, is superb. I found these lines particularly insightful:

"But if you’re black, Democrats have forbidden you to stray outside the box they’ve constructed for you. They ironically call you a slave if you decide not to listen to their demands while giving other demographics the freedom to sway left or right. In other words, black Americans are the only racial demographic told rather than persuaded how to vote."

Now I say this with some trepidation because I don't want it misinterpreted, so if you or anyone finds this offensive I apologize in advance...I am not trying to be offensive except, perhaps, to the Democrat elites that actually run their party, so here goes...

Despite their protests to the contrary it seems as though many Democrats think they're still living in 1860 when it comes to bossing black Americans around.

Now of course that is hyperbole and I'm certainly not comparing the slave owning Democrats of 1860 to those today, nor am I comparing the status of black Americans today to black slaves in 1860. There is no comparison to that national shame. However, the attitude of Democrats is not what one would expect towards a group that has been so completely loyal and essential as black American voters have been to the Democrat party in my lifetime. You know its bad when they stop trying to persuade, to the extent that they ever did this, and start threatening and bossing people around. Its not that Democrats have not done things for black Americans, but its a fact that Democrat achievements don't measure up to Democrat promises because their ideas to help black Americans, like most of their ideas, haven't worked all that well. And the attitude behind Biden's "you ain't black" comment makes me wonder what Democrats really think of black Americans. In summary, I've often wondered why black Americans stick with Democrats when it seems like after all this time perhaps its time to give the other side a couple of decades to see what they can do.

I also share your views on Trump entirely. I supported DeSantis initially but that seemed to last about 12 seconds and we were left with...Nikki Haley, who strikes me as a smarter, smoother, more polished, more conservative Kamala Harris...in other words equally insincere, equally a chameleon and equally not worthy of support. So, like you, I'm at where I've been in every Presidential election since I last voted for Ronald Reagan in 1984...the least worst alternative. Despite flaws there is much to like about Trump. Also, what you see is who you get, warts and all. It goes back to the genuineness you mentioned in another column. I have no illusions about those warts but at the end of the day, well really, there is no choice. Trump believes in some fundamental things that I agree with, free speech, capitalism and the free market, all of our Constitutional freedoms, common sense, success (i.e. policies that actually work, not just those that feel good or virtue signal), and the vast potential of America. He loves his country. Of Harris, well, one really doesn't know what she stands for other than herself. Of that we can be sure. What her core beliefs are remain unclear, other than her obsessive fixation on the ability of American mothers to kill their own children in the womb...for that she reserves a religious fervor. And she and her cowardly running mate are also weirdly obsessed with permanently mutilating children. These same children would never be let near a gun by Harris and "Combat Theater Tim" Walz because they're not mature enough to make the decisions necessary to wield such power, but they are mature enough to permanently mutilate their bodies into some sort of cartoonish caricature of the opposite sex. How illogical is that? Are they mature decision makers or not? Whatever Trump's shortcomings it does not include pure evil like that.

Some say that Trump is a Nazi and will start arresting his opponents if he gets into power again, but there is no merit or evidence to support such hysterical and silly ravings. Fortunately we have a model of what a Trump presidency will look like...and in it he never did anything that could be described as Fascist Nazi or arresting his opponents, despite the absolute fact that a perfect moment for such authoritarian steps would have been when he sincerely believed that the democrats had cheated and stolen the election from him. But what did he do? Ultimately what he did was fly home to Mar-a-Lago on Biden's inauguration day. That's all just another Democrat lie designed to appeal to the low information voter, the woefully ignorant.

Interested in your thoughts on this, particularly the view that Democrats simply don't treat black Americans as equals who sit at the table with them, but rather as helpless souls in need of Democrat benevolence and guidance...and they give them scraps from the table rather than a genuine seat and say in things. Perhaps you could write an in-depth column on this subject. I'm sure that your thoughts would be very interesting.

Thank you for your reply.

As far as an article, possibly if the moment calls for it. I don't know the history behind this behavior but to me it's noticeable. The things they say to us wouldn't be said to any other demographic and the party of elitists are too removed from normal people to see how condescending they've become.

Someone said to me a few years ago that in Washington there is a Uniparty made up of elites and it is the enemy of all Americans. If there is a divide in this country it is between the elites who run things and the rest of us. "Regular Joe" Black Americans and "Regular Joe" White Americans are not enemies and have far more in common than either group has with the ruling elites of the Uniparty. Despite his wealth Trump is not a member of the club, and perhaps that "outsider" status is why regular people of all races, colors and creeds seem drawn to him, despite the faults. We the people have more to be united about than divided about. We just have to remember that when we look at our fellow citizens.

Good summary of the issues and good summary of the logic behind a Trump vote. I believe allowing immigrants to vote is a strategy to replace Black Americans as a voting block. Democrats started bleeding support from their loyal voters during the 2020 election and this election the blood loss will be higher, especially among Black men. The women for the most part are still on board. But someday soon that will be more fragmented too. Votes from illegals will be that new, loyal group.

Great write up. I’m white but even I cringed at the attempt to win black votes by “black business loans that are forgivable” (read bribe) and the way she talks in Ebonics when talking to black audiences. I would find that incredibly insulting. No one is telling whites, Latinos or Asians who they must vote for. Good on you brother. We’re all Americans and all trying to progress. I hate this division they’ve caused. I’m 54 and it seems worse now than ever. Thanks for writing that all down.

This was such a great piece. The current Democratic Party elites do not seem to realize how insulting it is to reduce a complex, rational person to their race, gender, sexuality, etc. in order to demand their vote. Or perhaps they don’t care. In any event, this is not the Democratic Party of the past. It’s so important that we resist this narrative that we’re “supposed to” vote a certain way based on our broad identity features, and remind our candidates that our votes are earned

I'm not black and was never a Democrat, but I feel the same way about Trump. Presently, I am a registered Independent.

Something that really irks me, however, is the lies about Trump that are told over and over and then are doubled down on, even after sound refutation. We must make our voting decisions based on what is true about a person and the person's party.

Two lies about Trump have been brought up to me within the past week. The first and most egregious is the claim that he said "there are good Neo-nazis and white supremacists. If we lose our freedom to tell the truth, we will no longer even be able to look it up. But at present we can and there is no excuse to continue with the lie. He never said that! He categorically condemned such people! In context, he said there are good people on both sides of those who want to take the statues down. I don't think he even cares if statues are taken down - but they shouldn't be taken down by violent mobs.

The other lie I heard was that he did not fund HBCUs. I looked it up! The information is still available! He did fund them and was praised for it by black leaders.

The political landscape is extremely dangerous right now, but I think the best chance we have of surviving a cultural revolution similar to what happened in China in 1966 is if Trump can get back in.
