Breaking Bread with Kristal Knight in D.C. | Episode 30

Speaking Wrong At The Right Time is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Democratic strategist Kristal Knight invited me into her how to have a cordial conversation about culture, the migrant situation, and D.C. politics while enjoying some delicious Peruvian food.

I hope you enjoy the conversation.

Discussion about this episode

You are so right that we need to discuss and teach both the good and bad about our history. I also totally agree with you that there needs to be a plan for immigration that includes a financial commitment. I would challenge the Senate "Boarder" bill because when I read it, I couldn't find anything that actually improved immigration. What is scarey is that so many of those coming across the boarder, come from countries that don't share our values to respect women, they kill gays and lesbians in some of these countries, and some groups of single males are coming from countries that are known for supplying militias. I'm not saying that all immigrants are bad; I support immigration. My family migrated here too. However, I draw the line at these countries emptying their jails and phych wards (so they don't have to pay to care for these people) and let the UN fund the immigration here. Some of these countries have even declaired that they won't take them back, and we aren't even vetting them. Also, lets not forget that Biden was the one funding free plane flights to any state in the US that they want. Abbott was only accommodating the illegal immigrants asking for transport to a specific state which is less than 10% of the population coming across the boarder. I'd just like to see the administration enforcing the laws on the books that ensure safe migration (for both the immigrants and the citizens of this country); it would be a good starting point in which to improve. For me, I don't think we have a 2 party system any more, its all for show because when you look at the votes, they are voting for censorship, forever wars and no accountability for crime on both sides and outrageous spending (with very few exceptions). Thanks for raising these important issues.
